U3000-49: camera unit internal failure

U3000-49 means a control unit has detected an internal electronic failure. On Honda and Acura vehicles with Honda Sensing or AcuraWatch it is most often stored by the multipurpose camera unit behind the rear-view mirror — the scan tool reads “multipurpose camera unit internal electronic failure”.

Check these first

If the battery is healthy and U3000-49 returns, the camera itself is the likely cause. A dealer replaces it with a new one — around $1,300 or more list for the part alone, $1,500–2,500 with labor. We rebuild yours by mail for $399, shipping both ways included.

All five at once means the camera

These five messages cycle on the dash together, usually with the ACC and LKAS indicators and the brake system light. A scan tool reads U3000-49, the camera reporting an internal failure. Low battery voltage can set the same code, so have the battery and the camera's connector checked first.

Questions

Can low battery voltage cause U3000-49?

Yes. Have the battery tested and check the camera's connector, power and ground before blaming the camera. Clear the code and see whether it comes straight back.

Why do five warnings come on for one code?

Lane keeping, adaptive cruise, collision mitigation, road departure mitigation and auto high-beam all rely on the same camera. When it fails, each system switches itself off and puts up its own message.

Is U3000-49 the same on a Ford?

No. Ford uses U3000-49 for other modules, often the ABS module. This page is about Honda and Acura, where it points to the windshield camera.

How do I know it's the camera?

Several driver-assist warnings appearing together, plus code U3000-49 on a scan, points at the camera. The same code can also be set by low battery voltage or a poor power or ground connection, so check the battery and the camera's connector first.

What happens while my camera is out?

The driver-assist features are already switched off by the fault, and they stay off until the camera is back in. You get tracking in both directions and a status page, so you always know where your camera is.

Can my glass shop or mechanic help?

Yes. Any glass or repair shop can remove the camera and reinstall it afterwards. If you don't have one, tick the box on the order form and we'll help you find one near you.

What if it can't be repaired?

You get a full refund and we ship your camera back at no charge.

Why not just buy a used camera?

A used camera off eBay often sells for $500 or more, and it's the same age as yours, untested, and sold as-is. We repair the camera already matched to your car.
